Rapid Response
Grant Making

A funding tool used to support interventions by activists in a strategic and timely manner.

Grant requests are accepted 365 days per year, in any language, from activists around the world. Each request receives a response within 72 hours and funds can be wired within a week. UAF created this unique grantmaking model in 1997 to enable women activists to take advantage of unexpected opportunities, to mitigate threats, and/or to prevent backsliding in their ongoing work to advance the human rights of all people.

Research shows that women are the driving force in giving to international causes and issues. And no wonder. In the last two decades, women worldwide have been impacted by war, religious fundamentalism, child trafficking, and AIDS.

The responsibility for the well being of these mothers, sisters, and children -- the most desperately needy among us -- must be shared by women around the world whose own lives are not immune from the pain and dangers that these women face.

Our community of diverse women from Boulder and the surrounding area comprises a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and professional talents. We share this compelling concern: women and children in extreme need around the world. We’ve come together to harness our collective strengths on their behalf, by creating awareness of their circumstances and raising funds to make a real difference in their lives.

Local Fundraising – Global Reach

Each season, we select a compelling cause to support. This choice is based on members’ personal interests and is focused on health and education for women and children in great need. Next, through intensive research and interviews, we identify an indigenous relief organization that is effective and trustworthy.

Throughout the year, we hold Community Meetings featuring prestigious speakers who are knowledgeable about the cause to educate the entire membership. The season culminates in a gala fundraising event, with 100% of all proceeds going directly to the chosen organizations.

 

We are Citizens of the World

Like all of our members, you probably support your local and national communities in a variety of ways. BoldeReach, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves as an effective community channel for international outreach, specifically on issues that impact the most desperately needy. As a group of dynamic, interested women, BoldeReach is a source for the exchange of ideas; for action, hope, and knowledge.
